We now find ourselves deep into the Autumn season. Our days are shorter and the leaves of trees have recently turned toward new hues and colors to reveal a most remarkable spectacle. The inexorable movement and familiar parade of the seasons remind us of our wonderfully ordered Cosmos and inspires many to admire Nature and natural ways. A suitable period of rest and repose has now been enjoyed since our exciting Summer edition, Vol. 2 No. 2, last graced your mailboxes and reading rooms. Opinion has it that our Autumn edition may prove less provocative or sensational than our previous blockbuster edition and issue. Despite inevitable comparisons, I am given to think that this situation may be greeted by many readers as something of a relief.
Excitement gives way to calm, and confusion to deep understanding. Despite an avalanche of words the fact remains that there is only one living member of the Adi Nath sect. That individual is of course Shri Gurudev Mahendranath. Those westerners who are still parading around in sadhu togs but without the sadhu ordination are, in this writer’s estimation, obviously beyond the reach of honest self-evaluation or good taste.
On a sweeter note, it can be related that many fire tongs are stirring at the dhuni of the International Order of Naths with fragrant and fresh offerings. Several noteworthy aspirants have recently come forward with our latest initiate being ordained at our August celebration of the Full Moon Eclipse. This event took place at our newly consecrated North American Nath Pilgrimage place. Jadu Stone Circle is located in a secluded desert region of Eastern Washington. High above the canyon floor our lonely ridge affords a natural setting and geological wonderland free from the intrusions of modern civilization or the merely curious. Liberal deposits of volcanic ash add to the natural beauty of this curiously lunar landscape. Those who have experienced this power place agree that it is ideal for group work and those arts concerning the Magickal Phantasmagoria of the Cosmic Spirit.
We are pleased to offer you a segment of Hermeticusnath’s latest MS, Poetry by Shri Gurudev Mahendranath and the review of a new book on Shamanism which was brought to our attention by the publishers of the Brotherhood of Life. As autumn leaves now fall to their resting place, I bring this chat to a close with our wish for a Quantum of Happiness, Peace and Freedom for you all.

An excerpt from
“A commentary on Shri Gurudev Mahendranath’s Organum of the Magnum Opus“
by Hermeticusnath
To study the Secret Sciences to gain esoteric knowledge and guidance. To do the experimental work to confirm our beliefs and make all this possible.
Every culture has a living or traces of a living “shamanic” or hidden (i.e. “occult”) tradition within the mainstream culture. A small number of “illuminated” or Awake people are involved in esoteric secret societies, mystery schools, brother or sisterhoods, etc. Whether we are looking at the male Yoruba dancing societies in Nigeria or the Masons in America, initiated traditions form the core of every spiritual movement within the larger society they inhabit and, in some cases, direct or control in part these societies. These magikal traditions, be they Egyptian, Druidic, Masonic or Sufi, focus on the study and understanding of how we can understand and become one with the cosmos. This was true two thousand years ago and it is true today.
Today a new secret society of mystics called “physicists” have a new name for the magikal universe which secret societies and in-groups have studied for centuries. They call it Quantum Physics. They have “proven” that all things exist simultaneously in space and time, something aboriginal bushmen have known for thousands of years. So our “science” is beginning to explore how matter and energy “play,” how they transmute and transform moment to moment. The world we see is not the real world which has been “proven” to be systems of loosely connected particles, molecules and atoms which are in turn made up of complex forms of energy science is only now beginning to study. So the ancient mages were correct about the levels of reality and perception. Much has been made of this connection between ancient knowledge and current physics. Such books as The Tao of Physics, and The Dancing Wu Li Masters help show that the ancient occult knowledge and the new occult knowledge are in fact the same.
According to tantrik tradition, the age we are now in is the Kali Yuga or the final age before the cycle of ages begins again. This tradition states that all knowledge will be available to everyone this age. Thus what was once the hidden realm of Secret Societies, Orders and In-Groups, is now being made available to all. Hopefully this essay is part of this process! Go to any library or metaphysical bookstore, almost everything is there, jewels hidden in mounds of garbage, but the jewels are there if one has the will to dig.
Since no book or oral instruction can explain “awakening” or “higher consciousness,” all this knowledge is useless unless it is put into practice. All truly wise teachers have known this and it is perfectly illustrated by the fact that Shri Purdurabo entitled his irreplaceable master-work Magick in Theory and Practice. Theory alone is useless. To quote the well-known Zen koan: “Talking does not cook the rice.”
Exploring the fabulous “occult” or hidden world we have been talking about means real effort and trial-and-error experimentation. Not just once or twice but continually, for the rest of your life. This means testing basic concepts and theories with practice. The Guardian Spirit quickly shows us the direction to take at any given time once our self-evolving practices are underway. With this guidance we pick and chose the rites, meditations and/or other practices that our True Will shows us to be our path. The knowledge one gains from these practices, dreams, etc. form the basis of one’s own Master Pattern of Life.
Still, our memories are not always the best and Ego loves to tamper, so it is imperative that, like other “scientists,” we write everything down in a journal. By doing so, we will later be able to see patterns and themes that run through months or years of practices and perhaps this will help those other people who are also embarking on the same quest both now and long after we are gone. It is important to note that everything said so far rests on the foundation of experimentation and confirmation. No one can give you your magikal reality. They can share theirs with you, you can certainly pick and choose ancient ideas and practices, but in the end you are responsible for your own “Master Pattern of Life.”

You will never find OM in the temple,
Or ever learn the truth from those who preach:
You join the crowd and become one of them,
Yet never to know your real divine Nature.
The real man of wisdom dwells in secret;
You must find him: he will not seek for you.
When a man becomes popular and famous,
You will know he has not the true teaching.
Those willing to distort the Absolute
Always attract the greatest following;
Those who really know the truth do not preach,
For who cooks food only to throw to dogs?
When a guru wins popularity,
He knows there is error in his teaching:
That somehow the truth is now polluted,
To make it suit the palates of the beasts;
This his way of life is now defective,
And brainwashed clods now love his ways too much;
The real yogi-guru of perfection
Is left alone, unwanted by the world.
Living only in pure Absoluteness
Is the equipoise of the plenum.
Who can visualize the universe
Like a dewdrop on a blade of grass?
Can you imprison the wayward wind
And put it in a glass bottle?
Words from the mind are only gas
Which roars when you open the throttle.
Maya has mixed the milk with the water;
Now who is there to separate it?
Can you drink the milk from such a mixture
And only leave the water in the glass?
Only the Supreme Swan knows the art,
And this, for him, is still the greatest craft;
He can take the Absolute true wisdom
And throw the errors back from where they start.

None of the points in the MSS have been refuted by anyone and no clarification to any of the doubts raised. Of course, Cliff B. cannot be neutral. He must decide if he is a sadhu or not, and act accordingly. I think it is unlucky to play with these things or pretend one is neutral.
UK I will leave alone in the future. Nothing in UK has developed with peace and tranquillity. But any decision relating to M.M.—I favour forgiveness if sincerity is clearly demonstrated—depends now on yourself as IMM as he has now separated himself from his Guru for all time. He brain-washed himself too much in the old occult rat race, so his start was contaminated. The Oxford group is much the same.
In spite of the slings & arrows and the air filled with MSS missiles, no proper point has been answered and quite a few sadhus, sanyasis and Sanskrit scholars are going to be lonely in their weird trips. Yes, it does still appear, as you suggest, M.M. might still try for being the Adi-Nath Guru although this is impossible without being ordained as an Adi-Nath sanyasi and taking the sanyasa mantra. He could not get ordained into any “Hindu sect” as he is a married man.
I myself stress in the MSS that the Adi-Nath only exists as myself; there are no other Adi-Nath sadhus existing anywhere in the world and the sect will cease when I die. M.M. will have to realise soon that names, titles & sects are not really real and only what he personally attains is of any value to him in the future.
There has been very little mail this week and the absence might mean clear skies and that the storm in the pea cup is over. M.M. might do a sudden turn about and express sorrow. I must admit that things would have developed in U.K. if he had asked questions or sought more detailed information, but he wanted to play the game of the big man and be his own mike & loudspeaker combined.
