INO lineage

Posted in Kapilji's Skull Chatter at 11:48 pm by Shri Gurudev Mahendranath

The lineage story is always of interest because of its pristine utility. If we look at the phenomenon of lineage, without over amplification or exaggeration, we can see that it largely represents a qualified and intimate human/spiritual connection. No more or less.

In the past and present, no one was barred, prohibited or handicapped because of “non-initiated” status. Initiation was meant to be a starting point of greater intimacy and transmission, but transmission was always possible outside of initiation and could be the feature which promoted deeper interest and association.

The list of the five saints I gave in an earlier post are all connected. While there remains writings attributed to Dattatreya and Matsyendranath, we have no real evidence these are legitimate works of the purported authors or that either Lord Datta or Shri Macchindra could actually read any language, let alone write. We do have some writings by Shri Mahendranath who saw both of these beings as the foundation figures from which sprang his own primary Initiation lineages. At the same time, do consider that on spiritual levels, reading will not get you very far. It can only describe or point the way to a new avenue of thought or path or exploration.

To wit, the teachings of establishing a spiritual laboratory or “zonule” remains sound as this can be the place where ideas and patterns are put to the test and we can draw our own conclusions based upon valid methodology of our testing processes.

Saluatations and Obeisance to the Immortal Line of Shiva’s Naths.

Cast your grace upon this circle. Remove my obstacles and purify my alignment and intention.

Cast your gaze upon this circle and allow me to proceed.

Om Shri Dattatreya Namahaa
Om Shri Matsyendranatha Namahaa
Om Shri Lokanatha Namahaa
Om Shri Pagala Baba Namahaa
Om Shri Mahendranatha Namahaa

(repeat, lather-rinse)

Guru Om, Guru Om, Guru Om,

Nine Nath Lords

Posted in Kapilji's Skull Chatter at 12:51 pm by Shri Kapilnath

Generally speaking, the Nava Naths or Nine Nath Lords are considered to be the Nine Mythical Lords behind the founding and creation of the Nath lineage. This is something like the concept of the “Secret Chiefs.” They were considered to be “divine” beings in as much as they are “immortal” and inhabit a different plane of existence other than our own. At the same time, they may or may not from time to time intersect into our own Earth plane. The myth suggests that they intruded onto the Earth plane long ago to plant the divine Nath vibration among the human race and create the Nath Order. This is the vibration which is a spirit Transmission and a pivotal part of “initiation.”

As far as the idea that the Nava Naths were human beings born of a human womb, we have no evidence. It was a loooong time ago. Some sects of Naths still retain the alleged names of the “nine,” but these names vary from place to place. They Nava Naths still have a place in some sects of Naths who claim the “nine” as an important part of their “lineage” or “sampradaya.” In this sense, they can be looked at as having a place in the ancestry of the lineage and are propitiated in what could easily be called “ancestor worship.” This, in hope and expectation that their blessings and transmission could be caused to intrude once more into this Earth plane and individual zonules where they are invoked.

In the INO, the Nava Naths are generally considered a creation myth, with existential validity given only on spiritual levels. They are rarely invoked or propitiated as discrete historical entities or even paid much attention at all. Instead, the ancestral invokation of lineage consists of the actual historical figures:

1. Shri Dattatreya
2. Shri Matsyendranath
3. Shri Lokanath
4. Shri Pagala Baba
5. Shri Mahendranath

Of course, each of these human beings, no longer on this Earth plane, carried the Transmission vibration and are much related to the current INO. It works for us.

Fine Regards,

Kapilnath
